Millwork Shop Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 6-10 (cabinet makers, finishers, GL and Machine Operators)

  • Schedule work flow and assign tasks to team members

  • Hold brief staff meeting daily to outline goals, challenges and tasks at hand

  • Assign production goals and ensure they are met – Daily, weekly and monthly

  • Attend weekly production meetings and advise project status and upcoming challenges

  • Ensure all project materials, shop and machine consumables are ordered via purchase requisition through procurement officer.

  • Ensure Industry and CVS quality standards are upheld

  • Ensure the Health and Safety of all team members within their various roles

  • Adhere to equipment maintenance schedules

  • Communicate directly with Detailing team

  • Identify and report any challenges – labour, project to project or general shop to COO and Operations.

  • Coordinate with Detailing, Graphics Department and Installation team to meet objectives and deadlines.

  • Ability to be hands on and work overtime when required to meet project objectives.

  • Provide guidance and training to team members

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in the Millwork Fabrication Industry. 3-5 year minimum. Experience in Tradeshow and Exhibits is preferred

  • In depth knowledge of millwork manufacturing practice, process and equipment

  • Ability to read, interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Strong understanding of materials (wood, composites and plastics)

  • Highly organized and motivated

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both in a team environment and independently

  • Excels in a fast-paced environment and able to manage multiple projects, tasks and staff efficiently

  • Thrives on challenge

  • Experience in lean manufacturing is a plus

  • Critical and solution based thinker

 

 

Position Full Time - Permanent

Valid Drivers license and personal vehicle required
